The announcement could save homebuyers up to $36,500 more on top of $130,000 in HST savings
The Ontario Government has announced a new initiative to reduce development charges in the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury over the next three years — a move that will save homebuyers thousands.
The government has earmarked $94.8 million to bring down development charges in the town by up to 76% until March 31, 2029.
This move is estimated to save up to $36,500 off the cost of building a new home, which in addition to the HST rebate announced earlier this year, translates to as much as $166,500 in savings that can be passed on to new homebuyers.
This move is part of a broader $8.8 billion investment over the next 10 years to help develop infrastructure across the province of Ontario. In Bradford, in addition to unlocking construction on 29,000 new homes, those improvements will include upgrades to water, road, and fire protection infrastructure.
“In response to President Trump’s latest tariffs, our government is doing everything we can to lower costs for families, keep workers on the job and get shovels in the ground faster on new homes,” said Premier Doug Ford in a recent release.
“Today’s investment will support infrastructure projects that enable the construction of tens of thousands of new homes, creating good-paying jobs and making the dream of homeownership a reality for families in Bradford West Gwillimbury.”
